Twinner/quadder model Model TD-1930 double-twist twinner/quadder from Tulsa Power is designed for twisting or quadding wires into twisted pairs. The system is designed to operate quickly and efficiently with minimal operator attention or experience required. The system will accommodate up to 19" flange diameter in the cradle area and up to 30" flange diameter in the take-up shaft.

Double twist machines

The double-twist stranding machine (DTO) from Officine Meccaniche di Lesmo was among the first machines developed by the company. The design is known for a single bow system that offers cost advantages in energy consumption and replacement parts. The high torsion of double-twist technology can improve productivity and, if fitted with an adequate payoff system, can operate continuously for 24 hours a day. Double-twist stranders can be used for stranding rigid copper, aluminium and aluminium alloy and for flexible copper from buncher or multiwire processes. They can also be used for laying-up of insulated cable, with or without tape, and for making sector cable of copper and aluminium.

Twisting and cabling Flymca is a supplier of machinery and equipment for the manufacture of electrical cables, submarine, offshore and umbilical cables, and steel ropes. The company’s machinery range includes: carriages from 6 to 36 bobbins with fast loading systems to produce high quality compacted conductors, either by rollers or die. This machine type can also be adapted for screening purposes with multi-wire bobbins Tubular stranders: high speed stranding in a choice of configurations (1+6; • 1+12; 1+6+12) and specials such as 1+6+(6+1) which also can produce as 1+12 in tandem operation Bow stranders: for aluminium or copper bare wire stranding and for steel • wire ropes on PC-lines Bow cablers: for fast laying-up of insulated conductors • Double-twist bunchers: for bobbin diameters of 1,000mm, 1,250mm and • 1,600mm. High speed production of aluminium or copper conductors, with or without compacting (by die or rollers) Drum twisters: for laying-up, armouring or screening conductors. Also for • cabling high and exra-high power cables such as Milliken. Machines for drums up to 4.5m and 40 tonnes have been supplied Planetary: for OPGW, steel wire ropes, CTC, umbilicals and offshore • cable, and for armouring of multiple enamelled wires. Machinery can work with 100% backtwist or variable from 0% to 100%. Drums for diameters from 500mm (standard for CTC), from 630mm for OPGW, steel or armouring, and from 1,000mm up to 2.5m for umbilicals, offshore and submarine cables Single-twist twinning, double-twist twinning and double-twist quadding with up to 2,000 twists per minute are all achievable with the TD series equipment. Individual payoff tension brakes are standard on the TD range, and fully adjustable while the unit is in operation. Each system includes a four-groove dual-wheel capstan built into the mainframe, tension controlled take-up shaft and all aspects of the drives, flyer bow and capstan are electronically integrated to one master speed control potentiometer. Each drive also includes trim potentiometers for fine tuning while the system is in operation. Available upgrades include full AC vector drive systems with encoder feedback and full colour operator touch screen interface.
