Continued development in wire forming YHM Springtech Machinery Co (Yeou Heuy Machine Co) has been making machines for 27 years. The range includes a torsion spring former, compression spring coiler and long extension spring former, garter spring and micro spring coilers, a filament former and a bobbinless air coil former with in-line stripping, soldering, winding, bending and hot air heating.

YHM is currently focused on developing a wire bender for special wire forms with end processing, such as stamping, drilling, tapping, threading and chamfering. In 2010, following collaboration with a European machinery company, YHM will announce a new, modular machine for wire and strip hybrid forming. The hybrid forming machine can form wire and/or strip material with stamping, bending, winding, coiling, drilling, tapping, threading, chamfering and/or welding actions, combined with assembling processes and various types of feeding systems and transfer stations. The machine can be designed with between 2- and 32-axes of servo control, according to customer requirement, with base die/tool for quick setup. Sacma’s SP 660 five-die large cold former and the six-die SP 670 machines are controlled by SC-MATIC software, with all data transfer by Ethernet. Designed to be user-friendly, hydraulic clamping of the tools, wedges and transfer makes operation of such large machines straightforward for setters and operators. The machines can also be equipped with an automatic system for setting and adjustment of the transfer finger timing cams. The standard equipment includes two patented hydraulic service platforms that position themselves in the work area to assist in the operation of individual tool removal. A portal framed overhead crane with 3-D power movements manipulates tools and heavy weights. Alternatively, a portal-type robotised powered manipulator is available for automatic removal and fitting of complete tool holders. An electronic joystick is supplied for ease of transfer finger setting procedures, allowing the operator to move the machine in slow motion to avoid collisions of tools. It will also avoid jogging, and safeguard the clutch/brake unit for enhanced operational life. Optional accessories and systems are offered to make these machines extremely flexible for the manufacture of complex parts, from high tensile materials. SP660 and SP670 offer high production speed and forging power for manufacturing bolts and parts that usually require hot forging. This results in a significant saving on energy costs. Sacma is also introducing a new range of four-die and five-die warm forming headers (WF), especially for high tensile bolts and special parts for the aerospace and automotive fields where it is necessary to use fixing elements able to sustain high temperature and high stresses.
