Spring feeding Skako Comessa vibratory storage feeders will keep sorting and inspection machines running with the right quantity of small products, formed parts or springs, without needing operator intervention.

Nail forming Enkotec A/S has released a new nail machine, the MI01. Producing 1,000 round nails of 2.3mm–3.8mm diameters and 50mm-90mm lengths, the MI01 is intended for small to medium-sized capacity needs. The MI01 is based on Enkotec’s rotary forming principle, but for this model Enkotec has chosen a simple, sturdy transmission system based on belt drives, with a mechanical adjustment set-up. The tooling ring includes fewer dies, a contributing factor to the short tooling changeover times. The MI01 nail machine is user friendly in its design, with an ergonomic working height, foot controlled wire feeding, and easy access for cleaning and service. It has an efficient active nail ejection system.

There are two solutions for feeding inspection and packing machines: the silo feeder is used for very small and easily flowing bulk material such as nuts, washers and screws, while the storage feeder, FVE, is for longer, larger and interlocking products. The storage feeder is available in different sizes from 70 litres or 125kg capa- city, up to 2,240 litres or 4,000kg. To complete the feeding equipment for an inspec- tion and packing machine line, the Skako Comessa lift and tipping system, Tilde, is available to empty all sizes of transport boxes (10 to 3.15kg per box) into the feeders. A characteristic of all Enkotec nail machines is the low noise level resulting from the rotary head-forming principle. Moreover, the straightening unit is placed in a closed box, from which it is possible to establish a connection to exhaust ventilation. The new MI01 has a re-designed wire payoff featuring machine-integrated controls and allowing a maximum coil weight of 2,000kg. Enkotec managing director, Bent Just Petersen, comments: “We see our MI01 model as a very strong alternative for our customers’ capacity needs, whether they produce a single nail type or several different nails. The new MI01 combined with our high-end NX series allow us to offer a complete range of nail machines, where many tooling parts are common for all machine models, thus increasing their cost effectiveness.”

Springs for industry Spring manufacturer Mevis SpA, established in 1961, produces springs for the automotive and electromechanical industries, as well as for household appliances.

A dedicated in-house laboratory (certified by the Italian government) carries out all the relevant tests necessary for specific parts, in- cluding fatigue tests, coating tests, welding tests, salts spray tests and metallographic analysis. All design projects are carried out internally, in two tooling workshops, and the company also designs and produces its own machines for bending, assembly and sorting. Mevis has been ISO 9001 approved since 1994; AVSQ94 and QS9000 certified since 1999 and ISO TS 16949 since 2000.
