Herman Kogan Media Awards Luncheon The 2015 Herman Kogan Media Awards Luncheon will be held onWednesday, May 6, at Maggiano’s Restaurant and Banquets, 111 West Grand Avenue, Chicago. A reception for this year’s honorees will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by the luncheon and award presentations at 12:00 noon. Pulitizer Prize-winning journalist for the Chicago Tribune Mary Theresa Schmich will be the keynote speaker. Schmich attended journalism school at Stanford and worked as a reporter at the Peninsula Times Tribune in Palo Alto, California, and at the Orlando Sentinel before coming to the Chicago Tribune in 1985. Schmich also wrote the “Brenda Starr” comic strip column for 25 years. Tickets are $60 per person or $600 for a table of ten. Holmes has received numerous awards and is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois.
