GFTU BGCM 2019 Minutes

So that is a little bit about what we have got within the GFTU family, but

actually what I am trying to do is describe the things that go on with partner

organisations, so I will do those first and then we will think about the

commercial ones. You know from yesterday that we have got a relationship

with New Internationalist and as part of that we have got Workable Books. We

are all excited about the new For the Many, Not the Few book that is launched

this evening. We have also go the Ethical Shop via their website. There are

dedicated GFTU pages, so if people are saying to you, “Where do I get a copy

of this great new book?” just signpost them to the Ethical Shop and they can

buy it online and, again, if you buy it in that way, commission on anything sold

on there comes back to the Educational Trust.

We have got the relationship with different people who support us to do our job

better and that includes Morrish’s. Morrish’s work with a couple of the affiliates

now looking after employment law, wills and probate, conveyancing, family law,

personal injury stuff, medical negligence, criminal offences, dispute resolution.

It is all there. We have got Nicola and we have got Paul with us, so at

lunchtime have a conversation with them. One of the early applications of that

partnership working is with Prem Ex and you might have heard of them, but

you do not know what they do. Prem Ex have got a stand outside. They have

generously contributed to the event and I will ask Laura in a minute just to give

us an outline of what Prem Ex does. It actually would not cost you anything to

use it. They do medical reports as a specialist company, but it is actually the

relationship between the lawyer and them that generates a fee for us as a

finder. It is a good offer around medical reporting and rehabilitation, but we

need to get Prem Ex into all of the legal companies that you are working with

and then we can make that again generate good revenue. There are other

people around the legal scene. We have got Ivan Walker doing pensions

advice for the GFTU. Ivan cannot be with us at the moment, because he is

busy preparing for court, but he sends his regards. We have also got Solutions

for Accounting who provide us with Sage and Act products and they are happy,

again, to make those licences available to affiliates so that we are all working

on the same platform and it is so much easier that way. Will Ingleby from

Solutions for Accounting will be here in a while, as will Emplaw Online. You
