IWCS/Focus 2009 T he 58 th International Wire and Cable Symposium will take place at the Charlotte ConventionCenter,Charlotte,NorthCarolina from8 th to11 th November2009.The IWCS provides importantnetworkingopportunities and a forum for thepresentationofnew wire and cable technologies and trendsusing ablendofprofessionaldevelopment courses andauthoritative speakers. This year’s keynote speakers, appearing at theplenary session luncheon,willbe ledbyDrRobert Fry, senior economistwithDuPont, talking about the economic outlook for the industry.Thiswillbe followedby three speakers fromCRU Research, London,beginningwith an introduction tomarketdynamics from John Segal. Rob Daniels will follow, with a talk entitled, “The globalmetallic cable industry – where does it go from here?”and the speakers’sessionwill concludewith“And the last shallbefirst:how theemergingmarkets are reshaping thefibreandcable industry,”the intriguingly titledpresentation fromPatrickFay. Engineers and scientists frommajor companieswill present their latest research and developments in one of two formats, either as formal lecture-style sessionsor aspartof thepopularposter sessions that allow for one-to-one exchangebetween author and attendee.The exhibit floor, featuringdozensof leading suppliers ofmaterials, accessories andmachinery,will be open from 2pm ‘til 7pm onMonday (9 th ), 10am ‘til 6pm on Tuesdayand9am ‘til12noononWednesday.
