Associate Handbook 2018

9.2

Associate Responsibilities

Under the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974), Associates have a responsibility not to endanger their own health or safety at work, not to endanger in this respect other Associates, visitors or anyone else on the Company premises. If Associates notice anything on the premises that could constitute a danger to health and safety they must report it immediately to the Facilities Manager in the London office, or in their absence, their Manager.

In particular, Associates should check with their Managers for the procedures in case of:

Fire and/or fire drills

Evacuation of the building routine

Particular hazards in their working area

Location of First Aid Officers

Associates should check notice boards regularly for updates on the Company's Health and Safety policy.

There is a Business Continuity Plan, which outlines the procedure to be followed in the event of a disaster. All Associates are issued with a summary document and this should be read carefully.

This policy does not form part of any Associate’s contract of employment and Lockton may amend it at any time.

Eye tests

Any Associate who is a substantial user of a computer or VDU at work should undertake regular eye and eyesight tests. Payment for the eye test should be made by the Associate, the Company will then reimburse (up to the value of £25) through the normal expenses procedure. The Company will make payment for an eye test once every two years.

The Company will also contribute £50 towards glasses, which are specifically prescribed for VDU use. Payment for these is made using the same method as outlined above.

9.4

Accidents

All reasonable steps will be taken by the Company to prevent accidents and Associates should also ensure that safe practices are carried out.

However, in the event of an accident or injury, Associates should report the occurrence to their Manager as soon as possible and ensure that a report is made in the Accident Book. Accident Books are kept at all locations.

This policy does not form part of any Associate’s contract of employment and Lockton may amend it at any time.
