the side facades fronting Tietgensgade and Niels Brocksgade there are several sculptures by Meu­ nier, Boucher, Sinding and several others. In the Glyptotek garden: Meunier’s group »maternal love« and Rodin's »the muser« and several other works by French sculptors. The building (Architect H. Kampmann ) overlooking the garden was inaugur- ated in 1906, and connects the two seclions with the domed building vaulting the inner court (the winter garden). The foundations of the c o l l e c t i o n s were laid by the brewer Dr. Carl Jacobsen and pre­ sented to the Copenhagen Commune respectively in 1890 and 1899, together with substantial contri- butions for the erection of tlie buildings, and a fund for carrying on and maintenance. Tliey contain the most complete collection of French sculpture out- side France, a collection of older Danish sculpture and paintings, and also a very comprehensive col­ lection of antiques consisting of mummies and Egjrptian, Greek, Roman, E trurian antiquities, Ta- nagra figures, sculptures and other works. (See page 42). __ T h e c a s t l e wras erected by Christian IV in 1608—17, originally as a country seat in the park »Kongens Have« then the Palace grounds, outside the town, but in the 17tli and 18th centuries the castle was often used by the kings as a residence, whereby it gradually developed into a kind of royal family museum. The castle has not been used as a royal residence since the beginning of the 19th century, Christian IV died there in 1648, and there are still several rooms from his time practically quile unchanged. For instance the first four rooms one enters: the stone passage, the tower cliamber,, the audience room and the work-room. This beautiful castle iii Nordic renaissance style corisists of a three-storied building in red brick with sandstone ornamentation, there are three towers and one stéeple containing a winding stair- case. Kcimpmann) er indviet 1906 og forbinder ved Fløje de to Afde­ linger med Kuppelbygningen, der livælver sig over en indre Gaard (Vinterhave). (Østervoldgade). (111. Side 42). S l o t t e t er opført af Christian IV. 1608—17, oprindeligt som et Lystslot i Kongens Have, der den Gang laa udenfor Byen, men i det 17. og 18. Aarhundrede blev det ofte benyttet af Kongerne til Opholdssted, og udviklede sig derved til en Slags kongeligt Familiemuseum. Siden Begyndelsen af det 19. Aarhundrede har det ikke Været benyttet som kongelig Bolig. Christian IV. døde paa Slottet 1648, men endnu staar adskillige Rum fra hans Tid næsten uforandret, saaledes f. Eks. de første fire Rum, man træder ind i: Stengangen, Taarn- kamret, Audienssalen og Arbejdsværelset. — Det smukke Slot er opført i nordisk Renæssancestil og bestaar af en 3-etages Bygning af røde Mursten med Sandstensornamenter, tre Taarne og et Trap- petaarn. Rester af de gamle Grave omgiver det endnu tillige med et Parkanlæg, der grænser um id­ delbart op til den offentlige »Kongens Have«.
