JUNE 2015 BEACON

Vice Commodores Comments…

Well it happened again. The club has opened on time and is in great shape. We are truly so blessed….the Lord has given us the perfect place to unwind and recharge the batteries of life. Although this does not happen on its own or by little magic elves, it took the hard work of more than 40 members each weekend, some working all 6 weekends. So much was accomplished again this year by our members volunteering and putting their unselfish sweat equity into the island, transforming the sleeping beauty into the princess that she is. It was great to see all of the eager help. We even had members in waiting on the island working, before they were even approved by the Board to be members. We do it because it is what we love; it is what lured each of us to join NCYC in the first place. Our club is strong, and has a very bright future. The general membership meeting was well attended, and it was very informative. One of the best highlights was that as noted the debt is now for the first time in a long time down to double digits. We are below the hundred grand mark and we are financially on very solid ground. You can feel the thrust that has developed between the general membership and your Board and Flag. I am proud to serve with such a caring, hard working group of members. The harbor was full. I want to thank the membership for their patience and flexibility to accommodate all of the dockage. We even had boats on the wall. But as always we will never turn a member boat away, we will always make room. The SS Minnow was a cool backdrop by the Flats gang to put on a great party weekend. The over 200 people that ate the pig all will attest that they did a great job bringing in the fun! I am sure I can speak for the membership to say a big thank you to the team for your efforts and hard work.
