USD COACHING STAFF

TONY DA LUZ, Head Coach Head Coach Tony da Luz begins his third season as head women's soccer coach at the University of San Diego. Since his hiring on Nov. 7, 1992, da Luz has been in charge of building the newest sport at USO from the ground up. Last season USO won seven of its last eight games to finish 8-8 overall and tied for third in the West Coast Conference. Among the Toreros' victo– ries was a 1-0 upset over No. 20 Washington to take third place

at the Umbro Invitational. Da Luz has been a familiar sight on the USO sidelines since his days as a player and assistant coach on the men's team. A former USO team MVP and wee honorable mention selection, da Luz broke into coaching as chief assistant coach to Seamus McFadden prior to the 1984 season. In his seven years on McFadden's staff, da Luz helped USO to five straight winning seasons. Tony and wife, Amy, have two sons, Austin and Tyler. They reside in Del Mar. Parker begins her third season with the Toreros. She played four years of collegiate soccer, beginning her career at UC Santa Barbara before finishing with UCSD, where she earned a de– gree in Visual Arts. An All-American (1991) at UCSD, Parker set a school record for assists in a game (5). She also shares the UCSB record for goals in a game (4). A San Diego native, Parker has two brothers who coach the USO rugby club team.

TRONG NGUYEN, Assistant Coach One of the finest players in Torero soccer history, Nguyen em– barks on his first season as assistant coach . A four-year letterman on defense, Nguyen earned All-America Second Team honors in 1990. Trong was a three-time AII-WCC pick who com– peted in the Collegiate Soccer Indoor Showcase and was drafted shortly thereafter by the MSL Wichita Wings. He is currently working towards a master's degree in College Counseling at USO.
