Rough Rider Double Casked Straight Bourbon Whisky 90PF / 750ML Named after the First United States Volunteer Cavalry - the “Rough Riders” - originally organized by Long Island’s own Teddy Roosevelt in 1898 to fight in the Spanish-American War. The whisky is a mash bill of 60% corn, 35% rye and 5% malted barley. After initial aging in new charred oak, it is finished in merlot and chardonnay casks from local wineries. The wine casks themselves are washed in local brandy before the bourbon goes in for final aging. 94pts Great Value/Excellent Ultimate Spirits Challenge 2016 Happy Warrior Cask Strength Bourbon Is Wine Cask Finished. According to the distillery, Happy Warrior is aged in 55-gallon new American oak for a minimum of 4 years and mingled in a small batch with older bourbon. Rough Rider Rye “Bull Moose” Three Barrel Rye Whisky 90PF / 750ML Bull Moose Three Barrel Rye Whiskey pays tribute to the Progressive Party, which was formed by Roosevelt in 1912. The party became known as the “Bull Moose Party” after Roosevelt, who had just been wounded in an assassination attempt, boasted that “it takes more than that to kill a bull moose.” The rye is made from a mash of 95% rye and 5% malted barley and is matured in three types of casks. 96pts Chairman’s Trophy Ultimate Spirits Challenge 2018 Rough Rider “The Big Stick” Cask Strength Rye Whisky 121PF / 750ML Following the harvest of Long Island’s iconic potatoes, locally harvested Winter Rye is planted to maintain the sustainable characteristics in the soils. Rye is a deep-rooted cleansing grain, , so it is a very terroir dependent. Surrounded by over 70 vineyards, Long Island Ryes tends to have a spicy sweetness to them. The Big Stick is bottled at 121 Proof Cask Strength, and reveals the true raw spirit of this locally planted Rye. This small-batch whisky incorporates the use of Champagne yeast, allowing for a 12-day low-slow fermentation, 4-times longer than your typical rye. Its impressive amount of esters and florals offer more flavor than heat. Rough Rider “The Happy Warrior” Cask Strength Straight Bourbon 114PF / 750ML Pine Barrens uses a finished 10ABV barley wine English styled Ale Beer that has a high hop count of 70 IBU’s. The Ale is traditionally brewed to its perfect drinkability, double pot distilled, and finally aged in petite new American Oak casks to achieve an incredibly high quality whisky. The result is spicy, velvetay smooth maltiness, sweet hints of nutmeg, cinnamon, and caramel qualities. Aging in charred new-oak mellows it out and results in a stunning riff on classic whiskey. Pine Barrens Cherrywood Single Malt Whisky 95PF / 375ml / 750ml Master Distiller Rich Stabile brews English style Barley Wine Ale, a heavily hopped hearty brew, then double distills in copper pot stills to create Pine Barrens American Single Malt Whisky. With this new Cherrywood Pine Barrens, the malts used in the brew are soaked over Cherrywood to add an additional layer of flavor prior to the fermentation process.
