Northrock PPE Catalogue 2021

PORTWEST PLANET SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAMME IS UNDERPINNED BY FOUR STRATEGIC PILLARS.

1. ENVIRONMENT We continuously strive to introduce low-carbon and green initiatives by increasing resource efficiency and designing more sustainable products. In 2021 Portwest introduced a new eco-friendly range of products. Each of these products has been responsibly sourced and produced in the most environmentally friendly manner achievable. Look out for the Portwest Planet symbol throughout this catalogue which guarantees each product’s green credentials.

2. LABOUR AND HUMAN RIGHTS Strong corporate and economic growth has enabled Portwest to drive progress and improve living standards for all workers throughout our business.

Portwest’s fully owned factories are certified to the WRAP Gold Standard. WRAP is the worlds largest, independent, factory based compliance programme for responsible production in the sewn product sector. We use Lost Time Injury Rate (LTIR) as a way to measure and track our performance and we are ISO 45001 certified.

Portwest has signed up to The UK Plastics Pact which will transform the UK packaging sector and help stop plastics polluting the environment. By 2025 we pledge that we will greatly reduce unnecessary single use packaging through r edesign , innovat ion or alternative delivery models.

4. ETHICS As a global family-owned company, in business since 1904, Portwest is committed to conducting and growing our business in a sustainable and ethical manner. We have a comprehensive learning and development programme in place and ask for 100% engagement in corporate ethics and anti-corruption and bribery training. IT security is one of our top priorities, we are determined to protect business information for our suppliers, customers and staff. We follow the CIS20 set of best practice frameworks to achieve this. 3. SUSTAINABLE PROCUREMENT Portwest is a member of Sedex, one of the world’s leading online platforms for companies to manage and improve working conditions in global supply chains. Our fully owned factories are audited using the Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA). SMETA is a social auditing framework that aims to support business practices across labour standards, universal rights, management systems and health and safety. Sedex and SMETA are underpinned by the Ethical Trading Institute and the Internal Labour Organisation.

Portwest is undergoing STeP certification by OEKO-TEX®. Our aim is to further enhance and communicate our environmental and ethical measures which will enable all partners to understand our corporate social responsibility commitments. It is Portwest’s aim to respond meaningfully and take the necessary steps to address the ongoing threat of climate change. ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems Portwest comply with ISO 14001 which means that we have worked hard to set up a fully integrated and proactive Environmental Management System. This system enables us to reduce our carbon footprint and better manage the impact of operational activities on the environment. Our long-term goal is that all suppliers will be SEDEX compliant and WRAP certified and we are currently working with key suppliers to achieve this.

85% of our garments carry the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 label, guaranteeing that every component of this product has been tested for harmful substances.
