I used to be an accountant. But once I met my grandfather who was a basketmaker, it changed my life. I followed in his footsteps with a first workshop in Lacapelle Biron, then I moved to Issigeac last year. Why did I pick this village? For its popularity with tourists and in particular, for the Sunday morning market around the church that draws such a great crowd. In my workshop I make traditional objects in natural wicker: carboy (bottle) baskets, lamps, baskets…I also organise weaving workshops all year round. “I picked this village for the market” Sylvie Dubicki, basket weaver

A LITTLE BACKGROUND

After 20 years existence, Issigeac Market has become a real attraction in the Perigord region. Residents and visitors alike, flock here every Sunday morning to stock up on fresh produce. The event assembles market-gardeners selling organic produce, vintners with their best wines, cheese- makers and cured meat specialists with pepper, cep or even blueberry-seasoned sausage. Numerous craft workers come to display their talent all year round. After the market take a seat at a café to decide on your recipe… unless you prefer to dine at one of the five restaurants in the village. From Farm to Market, with a Smile

What’s that wonderful aroma that sometimes floats around the streets of Isseac? It comes from the Taste Vin where Jean-Marie Roubaud roasts his coffee. Torrefaction for three quarters of an hour at 200 degrees releases all the flavour of coffee beans from Colombia, Mexico, Ethiopia and Guatemala!
