UNTIL DAWN

Hey, do you wanna play something really scary? Well, for starters we’ve got a cabin in the woods, a good set-up for scariness. Now, add a group of eight stereotypical friends visiting this remote retreat. Cool, very Evil Dead , very Joss Whedon, very potentially scary. But meh, not scary enough in itself. So let’s have it set as darkness descends and add a crazed serial killer on the loose. Yep, that should about do it... As well as likely giving you cause to replace your

undies after playing, this PS4 exclusive survival horror adventure also promises a story that bends to your whim – well, the choices that you make as you control the destinies of your eight little onscreen meat puppets. Big decisions and seemingly trivial ones can all make a difference, and while it may take only around nine hours to play through Until Dawn – for that’s how long it takes to get to dawn – you’ll be wanting to replay more than once to piece together

the whole tantalisingly terrifying story. Little expense has been spared on the voice cast, with the likes of Heroes ’ Hayden Panettiere, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ’s Brett Dalton, ace new series Mr Robot ’s Rami Malek and the rather awesome Peter Stormare all lending their tonsils to this fascinating frightfest. Tomonobu Itagaki isn’t a household name – at least not in boring households – but to lovers of Japanese hack, slash and fight games, he ranks as one of gaming’s legends. Having created Dead or Alive (no, not the ’80s band) and injected new life into the Ninja Gaiden series, it’s time for a new IP. That’s Devil’s Third , a Wii U exclusive that combines classic third-person hack and slash gameplay with shooter mechanics. The story? Satellites have started essentially eating themselves, shifting the world order. It’s chaos out there – especially in 16-player multiplayer. But you’re Russian terrorist Ivan, and damn it, you’re angry!

When Monkey D Luffy has a stretch, he means it man. He once ate a devil’s fruit and subsequently became rubbery, which comes in handy should fighting situations arise. As it happens, they arise almost constantly in this third incarnation of the Koei-meets-Bandai Namco pirate-infested fighting series. It’s based on an incredible manga which started life way back in 1997, and captures the visual style of Luffy and his Straw Hat Crew (and, of course, their enemies) stylishly and authentically. It’s also a hyper-fun horde brawler, with some of the craziest special moves that you’ll ever contort your fingers to launch.
