RUM

Rum distilled from sugar cane or from molasses from the cane is made in all the islands of the Caribbean Sea and in Panama. Some of these are blended and bottled in dif ferent countries of Europe. Rum has come into great favor in our country since prohibition. Before that time it was used more as a flavor ing than the body of a drink. Rum and Cola was unknown p.v. (pre Volstead) and in fact Coca Cola and the other colas were handled in very few bars. Sarsaparilla was much in use in those days. A very good rum was made in the New England states for many years. New Bedford Rum was known wherever sailors met and was made from molasses from the West Indies.
