CPA Update PLEASE SAVE THE DATE FOR TRAINING BY THE NATIONAL ALLIANCE ON MENTAL ILLNESS “YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID” FRIDAY JANUARY 12, 2018, 9:00 to 5:00 p.m. AT THE PARISH HOUSE Fee: $60; Scholarships Available Sponsored by the Community Support Series This course is designed for first responders, parents, and community members to help them understand the warning signs of a mental health crisis in youth and young adults. We are bringing an expert from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI of Maine; www.namimaine.org) to provide the all-day training. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders. (NOTE: For teachers, the suicide awareness portion of this “Youth Mental Health First Aid [YMHFA]” training meets the state mandate for awareness, not gatekeeper. Gatekeeper is a separate training. This training provides a 3-year national, evidence-based certification for participants that can be used to earn up to 8 continuing education credits. The certificate gives 8 credit hours.)
