A vote of thanks was passed to the Presi dent and .the Members of the Council and the Joint Committee for their services in connection with the draft Bill. The Council is proceeding to consider the suggestions put. forward and when it has approved the Bill in its final form, will proceed as directed. MEETINGS OF THE COUNCIL. 1st October, 1942. Twenty-seven members present. 22nd October, 1942. Thirty members present. Examinations. t The results of the " First " and " Second " Irish Examinations, also the Preliminary and Intermediate Examinations, held in October last, were submitted and approved by the Council. The results of the Final Examination, held in October last, were submitted and approved by the Council at an adjourned meeting held on the 29th October, 1942. Annual Report. Draft Annual Report of the Council was adopted.

SOLICITORS' BILL, 1942. The adjourned Special General Meeting of the Society for the purpose of reconsidering the draft Bill, was held in the Hall of the Society on the 1st October, 1942, at eleven o'clock, a.m. A synopsis of its text, together with a copy of the report of the Joint Com mittee, was sent out with the notice convening the meeting. Copies of the Bill were also sent to each Bar Association in Eire. The meeting lasted all day and the draft Bill was fully discussed. The following resolutions were passed by the meeting :— " That Section 59 of the draft Solicitors' Bill, 1942, making membership of the Society compulsory should be retained in the Bill." " That the omission from the present draft Bill of Part VII of the draft Solici tors' Bill which was submitted to the Special General Meeting on the 30th September, 1941, be adopted." " That the Council be instructed to proceed forthwith with the Bill as ap proved." " That the Joint Committee's report be adopted and that the revised draft Bill as submitted to the Meeting be ap proved." The Meeting also authorised the Council to consider all suggestions which had been put forward during the discussions on the draft Bill and to make such minor amend ments as might seem to be indicated.
