CALENDAR, 1941. The Calendar of the Society for 1941 can be obtained in the Secretary's Office, price five shillings; by post, five shillings and sixpence.

MR. JAMES M. SHALES, Solicitor, died on 17th March, 1941, at his residence, Pralou, Mount Merrion Avenue, Blackrock.

Mr. Scales served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. Peter M. Seales, was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1919, and practised at 11 College Green, Dublin, up to 1928. He was Solicitor to the Agricultural Credits Corpora– tion Ltd., 2 Merrion Square, Dublin, from 1928 to 1936, and from that date he was appointed Law Agent to The Hibernian Bank Ltd., 27 College Green, Dublin, which office he continued to hold up to the date of his death.

LEGAL APPOINTMENT. Mr. J. V. S. Mills, LL.D., has been appoin– ted Chief Crown Solicitor for Northern Ireland in succession to the late Mr. R. Haldane Carson.

JUNE EXAMINATIONS, 1941. An Intermediate Examination will be held on Tuesday, 3rd June. Notice of intention to attend to be lodged before 13th May.

First and Second Irish Examinations will be held on Friday and Saturday, 6th and 7th days of June. Notices of intention to attend to be lodged before 16th May.
