in the wire

String manufacturer D’Addario has introduced New York Steel to its EXP acoustic strings and banjo sets. The strings are designed to stay in tune longer, and to produce a stronger, consistent acoustic sound. D’Addario has re-engineered the wire drawing and manufacturing process of both its high carbon steel wire, used for plain strings, and the hex-shaped wire used for wound strings. These improvements have been implemented into a new steel wire mill adjacent to the company’s string manufacturing facilities in Farmingdale, New York.
