Forty-seven candidates attended; thirty-eight passed. On the combined results of the Second and Third Law Exmainations the Council has awarded a special certificate to Joan O'Mahony, B.C.L., LL.B. PRACTICE NOTE THIRD PARTY PROCEDURE Mr. Justice Murnaghan has directed that where a third party enters an appearance to a third party notice, the defendant—if then requested—should deliver a state- ment of claim to the third party within twenty-one days from receipt of the notice of entry of appearance; the third party to be at liberty to plead thereto within fourteen days of the delivery of the statement of claim. If the third party does not require a statement of claim, he should deliver a defence within fourteen days of the entry of appearance. Following the defence, the defendant may apply on notice, for directions. OBITUARY Mr. Patrick Cusack, solicitor, died on 5th April 1971 in St. Vincent's Hospital, Elm Park, Dublin 4. Mr. Cusack was admitted in Michaelmas Term, 1928, and prac- tised in Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan. Mr. John Burke, Solicitor, died on 5th April 1971 at his residence, Parkhurst, Victoria Road, Cork. He was admitted in Easter Term, 1935, and practised at 68 South Mall, Cork. Mr. Frederick W. Koenigs, B.A., LL.B., died on 9th June 1970. Mr. Koenigs was admitted in Trinity Term, 1937, and was senior partner of Messrs Barrington and Son, 10 Ely Place, Dublin 2. Richard Maximilian Neville died at his home, 16 Bishopscourt Hill, Cork, on 27th April 1971. Mr. Neville was at first called to the Bar in Trinity Term, 1959, and practised on the South-Eastern Circuit. He subsequently transferred to the solicitor's profession, in Hilary Term, 1968, áhd practised as a partner in the firm of O'Flynn, O'Driscoll and Russell at 59 South Mall, Cork. Mr. Neville had obtained an LL.M. Degree from Harvard University, and was Lecturer in the Law Society (in Practice and Procedure) from 1960 to 1967. Mr. Neville had been Auditor of the Solicitors' Apprentices Debating Society in the session 1958-59. Since 1968, Mr. Neville had been an Assistant Lecturer in Law in University College, Cork. From the Cork Examiner, 29th April 1971. The death has occurred at his home, 16 Bishopscourt Hill, Cork, of Mr. Richard Max Neville, LL.M., solicitor, at the age of thirty-seven.
