The designed structure of an elegantly curved cone with a peak has been integrated into the architectural tissue pro- viding a vast view of the Gulf of Finland and the city at the same time. In equal measure fluid and futuristic tower image, modern interior designs, functionality and con- structability of the complex already attract more and more attention. I am sure that the Lakhta Center will not only stand the test of time but will also become an emblem of creativity, imagination and technology thanks to the harmonious combination of its externals and internals. Advanced design and building technologies intended for high-rise buildings were used during project engineering and construc- tion of the Lakhta Center. Moreover, alter- native constructional solutions never used before were introduced to enhance design characteristics providing wind resistance and improve seismic, lateral and structural stability. They led to significant cost and time savings. Special technical regulations and standards have been created in the process of project implementation that will allow the use of these tailor-made technolo- gies in the future. Now, a similar approach can be applied to other megaprojects.
