These vibrations cause the air around them to vibrate, sending sound waves in various directions. Some objects known as their resonant frequency. In this activity, students will explore the vibrating nature of sound and how it travels from molecule to molecule. Students will experiment with how sound waves or tend to vibrate at a specifc rate. This is compare and contrast the speed of sound through different media. Students also will investigate the resonant frequency of different rubber bands, and how that frequency is affected by various factors. ● The structure of a wave affects its ability to be refected, absorbed, or transmitted through mediums. Have students perform one of the following experiments or demo it. Ask students what they think is happening.
