San Francisco Here We Come The 1993 West Coast Conference men's basketball tournament returns to its roots on March 6-7-8 at the University of San Francisco. This is the third time USF's Memorial Gym serves as the venue for deciding the WCC's automatic NCAA bid. The very first league championship took place there in 1987 and the 1989 tournament holds the attendance record. All eight WCC members will battle through three days of action which opens on Saturday, March 6, with two double– header sessions. Session 1 starts at 11 :30 a.m. and Session 2 follows at 6:00 p.m. The second game of each session will commence 30 minutes following the completion of the preceding game. Sunday's semi-final round starts at 5:00 p.m. and the two winners advance to Monday's championship game which will be televised live nationally on ESPN. The championship contest will tip off at 9:07 p.m., Pacific time. First round match-ups are determined by the final regular season conference standings with #1 playing #8, #2 versus #7 , #3 against #6 and #4 facing #5. The tournament follows a ''re-seeding'' format as opposed to a straight bracket, meaning that the highest seeded team will always play the lowest remaining seed in each round .

USD MEN'S BASKETBALL AND KSDO JOIN FORCESAGAIN

For the second straight season, all 27 regular season games plus the West Coast Conference post-season tournament will be carried, home and away, live on San Diego's KSDO Radio (1130 AM). Veteran sportscaster Ron Reina, KSDO Sports Director, will handle the game broadcasts that include a pre-game and post-game show for every Toreros basketball game. Ron started his broadcasting career in Stockton, California where he began doing the play-by-play announcing for football, basketball and minor league baseball

"Voice ofthe Toreros" games. He was known as the' 'Voice'' of University ofPacific football and basketball games between 1967-69. After moving to San Diego in 1969, Ron took over the play-by-play for San Diego State football and basketball games on KDEO Radio until 1972. The SDSU games moved to KFMB Radio and so did Ron Reina. He spent six years there doing play– by-play and daily sportscasts until 1978. He also did weekend sports on KFMB-TV, Channel 8. Ron joined KSDO Radio in 1978 and has done Sports Talk Shows, Chargers Talk, Aztec play-by-play (5 seasons) and USD basketball (1 season) . As the KSDO Sports Director, Ron covers the afternoon drive-time sportscasts. Ron and his wife, Marilee, reside in KSDO/AM1130 the Encinitas area of coastal San Diego County. News & Inform-atio-n
