NEXT GENERATION INDUSTRIAL LINEAR LED LUMINAIRE

SMART STREET LIGHTING AND CONTROLS MASTERCLASS E mpire Training will be hosting an interactive two day Master class facilitated by international and local achievers with practical implementation experience in smart street lighting and controls. The event, to be held on 13-14 August at the Holiday Day Inn Sandton in Johannesburg will delve into the methods used to gain project approval to deliver substantive value adding outcomes. Currently, enormous electrical energy is consumed by street lights across the world, which automatically turn on when it becomes dark and automatically turn off when it becomes light. This huge utilisation of energy should be changed. The challenge then, as always, is in harnessing the amount of energy to meet increasing demand. The Smart Street lighting and Controls Masterclass will discuss a smart street light system, ensuring a safe and cost effective road system keeping up with technological changes and advancements. Speakers include: • Justin Harmond, Operations: Lighting & Smart Services Georgia Power Company, Greater Atlanta Area, USA • Vicent Mbonye, Information Systems: University of KwaZulu-Natal • Brian Mpono, EDISON Group Corporate Affairs & Business Development, Edison Power Group • Hendrik Vermeulen, Regional Manager, BEKA Schreder • Marnus Marais, Lighting Expert, BE Group • Raja Moudgil, Philips Lighting Country Leader, Southern Africa & Ghana The facilitators will interact closely with masterclass participants and local support facilitators. It is de- signed for those involved in and delivering public works infrastructure and engineering services to their communities throughout South Africa and Africa. The event will investigate the techniques experienced practitioners can utilise in their own situations to gain project approval and deliver real outcomes. Empire Training will explore the business case justification of conventional energy and maintenance saving motivators and will extend into: • Automated Smart lighting using database population

BEKA SCHRÉDER is proud to announce the launch of the next generation BEKA VAPOURLINE, an indus- trial linear LED luminaire. The BEKA VAPOURLINE has been optimised with regards to efciency, deliv- ering the best possible efcacy for your application. The locally designed and manufactured BEKA VAPOURLINE offers a robust and efcient LED alternative for replacing fixtures fitted with T5/T8 fluorescent tubes. Designed to provide a long-term solution for harsh industrial environments, the BEKA VAPOURLINE has a strong mechanical design that makes it highly resistant to shock and vibration while its IP rating makes it ideal for dusty and wet locations. This high-performing luminaire provides an energy- efcient lighting solution. With a lifetime five times longer than a fluorescent tube, this modern linear LED luminaire lowers the total cost of ownership of a lighting installation and eliminates the need for maintenance. The LED modules are clipped into the diffusor, creating a protected and enclosed optical compartment within the luminaire. This will prevent any premature damage to the LEDs during installation or during maintenance. Furthermore, the BEKA VAPOURLINE creates safe and comfortable working conditions thanks to its low glare and high colour rendering index to optimise productivity. Key features of the BEKA VAPOURLINE include: • Like most BEKA Schréder products, the BEKA VAPOURLINE is locally designed and manufactured, thus taking Africa’s harsh environments and conditions into account. • Cuts energy costs by up to 50%. • Uniquely designed optical compartment to meet LED lifetime expectation. • Easy installation and maintenance free. • High colour rendering index: CRI 80. • High luminaire efcacy (up to 175 lm/W). • Uniform luminance with low glare due to

• Revenue generation opportunities • Monetisation of smart lighting poles • Collaboration potential between council and telecommunications organisations • Explaining the value of street lighting real-estate assets

• Road and trafc and weather adaptive lighting • Unravelling the procurement of complex assets

Delivered through a combination of workshops, presentations, case-studies and interactive discussions, participants will delve into the latest technological innovations leading smart lighting strategies and business models and look at successfully completed project such as the inteliLIGHT Dubai Water Canal project and the Enel Sole and Endesa project in Spain.
