Swagelok senior research fellow honoured by ASM International

Sunniva Collins joined Swagelok in 1995 as a research metallurgist, and has served in several engineering management positions, most recently as technical director for Swagelok Technology Services Company. In her current position, as the company’s first senior research fellow, she coordinates the company’s academic and governmental research initiatives. During her tenure at Swagelok, she has worked to develop key standards on materials specifications, welding, surface finish requirements, and corrosion test methods for the semiconductor equipment industry. She has also contributed to the research commercialisation efforts surrounding SAT12 SM services and the patented SAT12 SM process for surface hardening of stainless steels.

ASM International has elected Swagelok Company senior research fellow Sunniva R Collins PhD as a Fellow of the Society. Joining an elite group of technical and professional leaders, Sunniva was selected for her contributions to the technical advances in stainless steels used in fluid systems applications. She was formally inducted as an ASM Fellow (FASM) at the 2008 Materials Science & Technology Conference and Exposition Awards Dinner in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in October. The honour of Fellow was established in 1969 by ASM International to provide recognition of members for their contributions to materials science and engineering, and to develop a broad forum of leaders to serve as advisors to the society. Members are chosen by their peers.
