Kunshan Pearl Machinery Industry Co Ltd is a manufacturer of products including steel pipes and aluminium rims. The company’s steel pipes are widely used in applications such as petroleum, chemical industry, natural gas and construction projects, while its aluminium rims are used in the bicycle industries of Japan, Europe and America.

Valsir, Italy, offers technologically advanced products for the plumbing and heating market. The company’s new Triplus multi-layer push-fit system was designed to satisfy new and diversified installation requirements with particular attention to soundproofing characteristics. The system has an elevated impact resistance, both at low and high temperatures.

Supplying new hospital with pre-fabricated pipe

Triplus combines a number of advan- tages in one solution: resistance to a wide range of chemical compounds, even at elevated temperatures; connection system with single-lipped pre-fitted seal; and good soundproofing characteristics – with flows of 2 l/s the noise levels are 12 dB(A). The pipes are available in various lengths with single and double sockets, reducing waste to a minimum. The Triplus pipe is composed of three layers: an internal and external layer in co-polymer polypropylene PP, with an intermediate layer in polypropylene PP with inert mineral loads. The Valsir range also includes instal- lation systems and flush cisterns, available in various models – external, close-coupled and in-wall. Other Valsir products include an HDPE waste system, a polypropylene (PP) grey push- fit, flame-retardant waste system, a water supply system (Pexal), a complete range of fittings in PPSU (Pexal Easy), traps in HDPE and PP, and a radiant floor heating system in compliance with the European Standard EN1264. Valsir has obtained certification from Det Norske Veritas (DNV), the international certification institute for quality systems, as well as over 130 product approvals in countries around the world.

The company’s specialist fabrication centre in West Horndon, Essex, has supplied pre-fabricated pipe to the new acute hospital in Derby. Pipe Center supplied pre-fabricated carbon steel pipework, from 65NB to 300NB, for the heating and chilled water systems in the new ‘super-hospital’, which brings

together Derby’s acute health services at Derby City General Hospital’s existing site. Importantly, we also have highly skilled, experienced welders working on the project, who are coded class one to all UK and European standards, removing the expensive need for sourcing skilled labour on-site. ” The new hospital is being built in two phases. The first completed phase, including the Kings Treatment Centre, new education building and approximately half of the 95,000m 2 acute hospital building, was handed over to Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on schedule in 2006. The second phase will be completed in late 2009. This will bring together all the specialist services onto to a single main site.
