Boru 2009: 5 th International Tubes, Pipes, Fittings and Machinery Fair

Turkey has been developing into an extremely important player in the tube and pipe industry for the last five years. Many tube and pipe professionals are interested in what BORU can do to assist them in achieving their goals in this region that covers Turkey, The Balkans, Eastern Europe, all of the Middle East, Northern African countries, Turkish Republics and neighbouring countries. Turkey’s geographical position, with a foot in both Europe and Asia plus its proximity to the very important Middle East, Gulf states and CIS markets, means that the Turkish tube and pipe industry is uniquely situated to take advantage of the tremendous opportunities in many markets, whether they are the mature ones to the west or the rapidly developing ones to the east. Given the impressive rate of growth in the Turkish economy in recent years (nearly 10% in 2005), recent data from industry research specialists indicates that Turkish tube and pipe exports and imports increased significantly in 2007, particularly in the energy sector. Turkish Government has already announced plans to build a new nuclear power plant by 2013 which shall be the third biggest in the world.

As for BORU’s location it is not surprising that many international exhibitors from the tube and pipe industry are choosing to showcase their technologies at this event.

At the previous BORU 2008 event, 178 exhibitors from 23 countries took part within a total exhibition area of 11,300m 2 . The event received over 21,000 visitors from 31 countries. These impressive figures have been increasing year on year since the show’s debut in 2005.
