Substances liable to Spontaneous Combustion

The Australian Dangerous Goods Code defines Division 4.2 spontaneously combustibles as:

Substances which are liable to spontaneous heating under normal conditions encountered in transport, or to heating up in contact with air, and being then liable to catch fire.

The Australian Standard that outlines the storage and handling requirements for substances liable to spontaneous combustion is:

• AS/NZS 5026:2012 - The storage and handling of class 4 dangerous goods.
