FMMO Affect on CA Cheese The loss of the CA freight allowance on cheese combined with aggressive pricing from out of state has forced large CA processors to back out of their commitments to 100% California milk. Specifically, DFA Turlock is watching pricing closely and has already declined to add the Seal to some of their items. Saputo’s very popular Frigo Cheese Heads String Cheese carried the RCM Seal for all of Asia. The Seal is now being removed so they can leave their options open. Additional commitments to foodservice deals invoving millions of pounds of cheese are also ending. With huge volume processors, every penny per pound adds up to millions of dollars in savings.
