Recommendations Phase I – Proficiency study in Q4 2019-Q1 2020 • Conduct collaborative proficiency study to evaluate lab-to-lab variability ï IDF/dairy mfgs: Provide blinded ingredient samples; Participate in testing (include enriched protein fractions) ï IF mfgs: Provide finished product samples (SPIFAN II matrices); Participate in testing ï AOAC/INCA: Coordinate sample distribution, data collection ï Third-party labs: Participate in testing

• Launch ASAP to complete by MYM 2020 • Include in scope of work for SPIFAN Term 3

Phase II – Launch WG in Q2 2020 • Apply lessons from Phase I for Go/No Go on WG and standardized method for chlorate/perchlorate in IF ï Investigate feedback/know-how from end users re: performance of existing or proposed methods under project scope ï If proficiency study shows agreement between labs, then may be unnecessary to pursue standard method ï If results disagree, then consider end-user feedback and pursue standardization • Drive for decision from SPIFAN stakeholders at MYM 2020 • Include in scope of work for SPIFAN III Term 4
