• CMAB-Taiwan plans to conduct several tailor-made seminars targeting potential CA dairy key end-users, such as bakery franchises and CVS chains. These potential end users will first be identified by current CA dairy importers in Taiwan, and bakery seminars will be lectured by professional bakers in Taiwan. • CMAB-Taiwan will collaborate with Far Eastern/SOGO New Life to conduct a co-op promotion in May as post-culinary contest event to promote CA available retail products, i.e. California Select Farm’s cheese slices and Cascade Dairy’s cream cheese(226g) at Citysuper and SOGO’s four supermarkets with the possibility of on-site recipe demonstration by one of previous competition winners showcasing serving ideas for CA dairy to visiting consumers and VIP members, who will be informed via DM flyers. • CMAB-Taiwan will be participating at the 2019 Taipei International Bakery Show (March15-18) promoting in-market California dairy products collaborated by major CA dairy importers, Grand Dairy and Ging Yuan Enterprises. On-site product demonstration as well as displays of brand packages of the Real California Seal will be emphasized to booth visitors during the 4-day show. • CMAB-Taiwan met with Jasons Marketplace’s new Purchasing Manager to further discuss the possibility of conducting an in-store theme promotion of a variety of California dairy products. Jasons first approached CMAB-Taiwan last October with an interest in increasing their ice cream product lines and was referred to Harbyrco for further assistance. The Taiwan Ministry of Labor (MOL) is planning to allow dairy farms to hire migrant workers on a trial basis as part of an effort to help solve the labor shortage problem in Taiwan’s dairy industry. Local people are reluctant to seek employment on dairy farms because of heavy workload and a fear of interacting with big animals. Dairy farms, which have at least 80 cows and currently employ at least four local workers, will be eligible to apply for one migrant worker, while some 400 migrant workers are expected to be brought in to help dairy farms in Taiwan. This may help stabilize local milk production and may affect increasing sales of imported fluid milk in the long-run.
