CYIL Vol. 7, 2016

MILAN LIPOVSKÝ CYIL 7 ȍ2016Ȏ Alžběta Kubitová, Zuzana Holakovská, Pavlina Krausová and Daniel Askari; coach Dr. Tymofeyeva) made it to the 4 th best place (of 79 teams) in the written rounds, while in the oral rounds that took place in Strasbourg they made it to the 5 th best place. It is worth mentioning that during the round with the University of Cambridge (winner of the whole competition), they scored higher. A fantastic result indeed. Another amazing success of the Charles University teams occurred this year in the European Law moot courts as well. The Central and East European Moot Court Competition team (composed of Lucie Škapová, Kateřina Novotová and Ondřej Dolenský; coach Dr. Kunertová) took place in spring 2016, where our team won the whole competition, despite high competition of teams from both Europe as well as Asia. The moot panel was presided by the General Advocate Eleanor Sharpston from the Court of Justice of the European Union, other members included the General Advocate Michal Bobek. The travelling finals took place in Bratislava, Comenius University this year. The private international law issues were dealt with in the Willem C. Vis Interna- tional Commercial Arbitration Moot . The Charles University team (composed of Bára Bečvářová, Mariam Gulbani, Tadeáš Matys, Mikoláš Růžek and Ekaterina Semenkova; coaches dr. Kordač, Mgr. Vošahlík and Mgr. Čech) for the first time in history made it to the selection rounds, i.e. among 64 best teams and also won over the last year winner, the University of Ottawa. The team has made it to the best 32 teams and Mariam Gulbani was also awarded with the Honorable Mention for the Best Oralist. Let me congratulate all our team members for their fantastic results. I hope they enjoyed the experience of competing in prestigious competitions and will remember it for their whole lives. And hopefully, such results will go on for the Charles University teams.
