Publications EnviroKids, WESSA’s award-winning publication for youth, schools and educational institutions, will be celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2019. Now with a fresh new look and wider focus, each issue has a different theme and is full of fantastic facts and infor- mation about the world around us. The easy-to-read articles are linked to the CAPS Curriculum and are ide- al for second-language readers and school projects. It is an ideal resource for learners, teachers, parents and guardians. The African Wildlife and Environment magazine was re-introduced in 2017 after the closure of the part- nership magazine Environment, which had replaced it in 2009. WESSA’s longstanding and much-loved in- house publication was originally established in 1946. Today, it covers a wide range of environmental topics written by accomplished authors, and provides a plat- form to highlight the professional work of the organ- isation and the volunteer activities of members on the ground. Traditionally available in print format, we have recently launched a cost-saving, environmental- ly-friendly digital version.

This is part of our #WESSAlife programme, which is working to establish local initiatives for the en- vironment in communities across South Africa. We are currently in the process of developing an induction course, which we hope to pilot shortly in KwaZulu-Natal. Our business members provide invaluable sup- port and play a vital role in establishing a vibrant environmental network. Business membership consists of a tax deductible annual membership fee and contribution in support of WESSA’s work with five levels from which to choose. WESSA is an accredited facilitator of Socio -Economic De- velopment. As defined by current B-BBEE legis- lation, more than 89% of our projects directly benefit black South African citizens.
