Lisheenkyle National School Welcome All-Ireland Camogie Champions
We were delighted to welcome back our past pupils and All-Ireland Camogie club champions Clodagh Burke, Niamh Feeney, Maeve Feeney, Sinéad Feeney and Laura Freeney to congratulate them on their fantastic achievement. There was great excitement throughout the school that morning. We proudly wore our club colours, waved flags, asked the girls lots of questions, and even got their autographs. It was a memorable occasion for everyone involved. Marine Institute Explorers Programme Fifth Class recently took part in engaging workshops delivered by the Marine Institute Explorers Education Programme. The children learned about marine life, ocean conservation and the importance of protecting our seas. As part of the ‘Fin-tastic’ Sharks Explorers Programme, they also took on a class project to create ‘Bluey’ the shark, which was a wonderful way to showcase their learning and creativity. Wellbeing Week We recently celebrated Wellbeing Week in our school. Throughout the week, the children took part in a wide range of activities designed to promote positive practices that support both physical and mental wellbeing. Yoga sessions, positive affirmations, mindfulness activities, extra physical exercise, time spent outdoors, and baking were just some of the wonderful experiences the children enjoyed. It was a lovely week that encouraged healthy habits and positive mindsets for all. Safer Internet Day We were delighted to welcome two members of An Garda Síochána to our school to speak to the children in fourth, fifth and sixth classes about the importance of safe internet use. The Gardaí gave an engaging and informative talk about staying safe online, being kind and respectful on social media, protecting personal information, and knowing what to do if something makes us feel uncomfortable. passwords, thinking before sharing photos or messages, and always talking to a trusted adult if they have any concerns. Solar Panels Our school recently installed solar panels. The new panels will help us generate clean, renewable energy while reducing our carbon footprint and electricity costs. We will also be monitoring how much energy is generated and how much we use, giving the children a valuable opportunity to learn about renewable energy in a practical and First, second and third classes have just begun weekly sessions in camogie and hurling. The coaching has been kindly provided by Athenry GAA and the children are already really enjoying them. Pancake Tuesday We had great fun making pancakes on Shrove Tuesday in school.
