The steady stream of players making this transition to Galway United and other acadamies, reflects the club’s ability to nurture talent and prepare young athletes for the challenges ahead. Credit to Our Director of Football Much of this progress is thanks to the vision and leadership of our Director of Football, Stephen Lally. Since his arrival in Athenry three years ago, Stephen’s expert knowledge, passion, and commitment have driven standards across the club. His influence is felt in every age group, from little stars coaching sessions to competitive team preparations across all age groups and abilities. The structures he has put in place ensure that players are supported, challenged, and inspired to reach their potential. Club Development at Moanbaun Anyone who has visited Moanbaun since our wonderful facilities opened will recognise the huge amount of work that has gone into fulfilling our ambition to have a top‑class playing facility in conjunction with our friends at Athenry Athletics Club. We are very proud of what has been created: an amazing FIFA‑standard Astro pitch and an eight‑lane synthetic running track, which will soon include field sports facilities such as high jump, shot putt, and double‑pit long jump. This development is a landmark achievement for the club and the community, providing a home for football and athletics that rivals any in the region. Thanks go to everyone on the Moanbaun Development Committee and to the entire community for supporting this ambitious project over the last number of years. Story of Growth and Pride Athenry FC’s story is one of growth, resilience, and community pride. Whether on the pitch, fundraising, or through volunteer efforts, the club continues to embody the values that make sport such a powerful force in local life in Athenry.
