Grout crack fully and reset loosemasonry where required. Replacement of masonry material, if required, shall match the existing as closely as possible.

Concrete slabs are designed tomove at construction and control joints. Control joints are placed in concrete for the purpose of encouraging cracking to take place at the joints instead of random locations.

3. MASONRY

3.1 UNIT MASONRY (BRICK, BLOCK AND STONE)

Cracks inmasonry, brick or stone veneer.

Deficiency

Construction Performance Guidelines

Small hairline cracks resulting from shrinkage are common inmortar joints of masonry construction. Cracks greater than 1/4 inch in width or are visible froma distance in excess of 20 feet are deficiencies.

Repair cracks that exceed 1/4 inch by tuck pointing and patching. These repairs should bemade toward the end of the first year of limited warranty coverage to permit home to stabilize and normal settlement to occur. Builder/Seller is not responsible for color variations between existing and newmortar.
