Staff Christmas quiz 2018 We held our annual staff Christmas

quiz in December. 28 teams participated starting with free supper and refreshments.

Positive working relationships It is really important that staff feel confident to raise any concerns about negative behaviours at work, whether it is something that has been witnessed or they have experienced themselves. This new policy promotes ways in which we can create and maintain positive relationships at work. The policy encourages staff to resolve issues as soon as they arise on an informal basis where possible. There is also a link to an online self-assessment tool to direct employees to support available to address concerns of bullying and harassment in the workplace. The policy can be located on HIVE: https://hive. xchristie.nhs.uk/Interact/Pages/Content/ Document.aspx?id=7793&SearchId=184945 The self-assessment tool is available here: https://view. pagetiger.com/PWR The quiz was hosted by Barclays Bank and BBC Radio 5 live and Radio Manchester’s Sam Walker. It was a very competitive and fun evening. Congratulations to the winners ‘Fab-yule-ous’ from our marketing department. In second place was our own workforce team ‘Twinkle Twinkle ESR’ and in third was the ‘Perfor-Mince-Pies’ from our performance team.

Fab-yule-ous: Rachel Kendal, Lucy Berger and Emily Bancroft with Roger Spencer

Apprentices at The Christie In January, the apprenticeship team gave a myth-busting breakfast seminar designed to focus on increasing the number of our recruited apprentices. So far this year only 4.5% of bands one to four roles have been advertised as apprenticeships and we wanted to understand the barriers and address the commonly cited concerns. Some of those concerns related to supervision, the wider impact on teams, the 20% off-the-job training and rates of pay. We had received feedback from recruiting managers that considering an apprenticeship at the stage of a vacancy is too late so with that in mind we are rolling out a programme of meetings with managers to identify available apprenticeship opportunities against posts in their team ahead of time.
