November 2018 Tracey Coleby, breast

She is dedicated and enthusiastic, regularly goes above and beyond the call of duty, and is hugely respected by executive directors and everyone in her team. She was particularly praised in December for organising the Christmas entertainment programme for patients, visitors and staff in the Oak Road main entrance area. Maggie has enhanced this programme from last year and was responsible for identifying, inviting and managing all of the performers to ensure everyone had an enjoyable experience. The feedback from both patients and staff has been really positive.

palliative care specialist nurse Tracey has worked at The Christie for many years, initially on ward 11, then chemotherapy services and the palliative care team. Following a successful project that

proved the value of her role in breast cancer, Tracey now works solely with the breast disease group in an innovative breast palliative care role. Tracey works alongside clinicians to ensure timely symptom control, advanced care planning and promoting open conversations with patients with secondary breast cancer in their last year of life. Tracey is an integral member of the Macmillan secondary breast care nursing team who have developed an award winning pathway of care for patients with secondary breast cancer. Tracey has been nominated as she is a hard-working, passionate and dedicated professional. Tracey deserves this award as she goes above and beyond every day to ensure that the right patient gets the right care, in the right place, at the right time. Tracey forms friendly, effective, working relationships and is a pleasure to work with.

January 2019 David McGovern, clinical support team leader David is a clinical support team leader working in the proton beam therapy centre. This is a hybrid role involving administration and clinical duties,

leading the other clinical support workers. David has a number of duties including scheduling appointments for patients treatment, organising accommodation and transport, running clinics, covering desks, venepuncture, ensuring stock levels are maintained and daily cleaning tasks are completed throughout the build. David joined The Christie in January 2018 as a clinical support worker in radiotherapy, and from June he has worked as a team leader in protons. David is a hard worker, always looking for ways to help and always puts the patients first. David has provided cover in other departments when they have been short of staff, picking up a busy workload and completing it to a high standard. Whenever David is asked to do something it is always completed with a smile on his face.

December 2018 Maggie Doyle, head of communications Maggie was selected as the winner in recognition of all her hard work leading the corporate communications team during

an extremely busy time co-ordinating national media coverage for many projects including the NHS’ 70th birthday and the launch of our proton beam therapy centre.

If you want to put someone forward for ‘You made a difference’ , nomination postcards and entry boxes can be found in the restaurant, reception areas and on wards, or you can nominate a colleague via the intranet. A panel, which includes a non-executive director and governor, agrees the winner.
