The Christie Private Care

The Christie Private Care rated  ‘outstanding’ by CQC

We are incredibly proud that The Christie Private Care, has been rated outstanding by national regulators the Care Quality Commission (CQC). This is an important recognition of our ability to provide the very best cancer care to all of our patients.

The genuine open culture, in which all safety concerns around the services offered raised by staff, was also recognised by the CQC as being outstanding. The facility was found to have a proactive approach to anticipating and managing risk – ensuring that all services had sufficient medical and nursing staff to ensure patient safety. Claire Smith, CEO of HCA Healthcare UK Joint Ventures, said: “We are delighted to have received an outstanding result from the CQC, and are proud that our passionate staff, exceptional patient care and tailored services have been recognised. “We have a very dedicated team which goes above and beyond on a daily basis to give our patients the very best experience – we are constantly working to raise our standards and continuously improve care for all our patients.” Ellen Armistead, CQC’s Deputy Chief Inspector of Hospitals (North Region), said: “This is an exceptional report for a service that delivers exemplary care. We saw excellent leadership from managers, and all staff were passionate about providing high quality care for their patients. “To be rated outstanding in four areas is a wonderful achievement and I congratulate The Christie Private Care

We have been in partnership with HCA Healthcare UK since 2010, forming The Christie Private Care (previously The Christie Clinic), this partnership raises vital resources that we are able to reinvest into our services and provides greater choice for patients. As a fundamental part of our campus this CQC rating complements the Outstanding rating of our NHS services. The Christie Private Care offers a unique environment for private cancer patients, providing the expertise and dedication of a specialist cancer team and expert consultants, this level of specialised care is rarely available to private patients in the UK. The CQC found examples of outstanding practice that enable the delivery of high quality, medical care, including: • Strong multidisciplinary working • Numerous examples of exceptional care being provided to patients • Comprehensive systems to keep patients safe • Personalised care for each patient • Appointment waiting times are consistently low • Excellent leadership from managers. In addition, the CQC also praised outpatient and diagnostic services at The Christie Private Care. Patient feedback about the care they received was consistently excellent with a strong patient-centred culture demonstrated by staff.

Clinic. The CQC will continue to monitor the service and return at some time in the future to check on progress.”
