Alice J. Minor Hawthorne Community Center The Alice J. Minor Hawthorne Community Center is located at Jessie Davis Park. The 16,000-square-foot facility, built to accommodate Douglasville’s growing community, opened in October 2002. The center is named in honor of Dougl- asville native Alice J. Minor Hawthorne who was killed in the 1996 Olympic Park bombing. The Alice J. Hawthorne Community Center features a 9,600-square- foot gymnasium, a rentable meeting room, and a computer lab. Other ameni- ties at Jessie Davis Park include horseshoe pits, outdoor basketball courts, a playground, swimming pool, two shelters, and an outdoor football complex. A refundable cleaning deposit of $100 is required for meeting room rentals; $200 is required for the gymnasium.
