DEPUTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Characteristics of Work:

This position involves highly professional oversight and management of the programmatic accountability functions for MCCB, specifically, Academic and Student Affairs, Research and Effectiveness, and Resource Development. The position also provides oversight for the areas of Curriculum and Instruction, and Career and Technical Education, to include CTE Professional Development. The incumbent must be flexible and employ discretion, diplomacy, and tact in all matters. Incumbent must be able to work well under pressure, prioritize and plan work activities in order to meet multiple deadlines, manage time effectively, and work collaboratively and independently to achieve stated goals. Work is subject to the direction and review of the Executive Director, to whom the incumbent is responsible.

Examples of Work:

The following examples are intended only as illustrations of the various tasks performed by the incumbent in this position. These examples are not meant to be exhaustive; they are representative of the general functions of this position.

1. Identify funding and partnership opportunities for colleges (USDA, private industry partnerships, etc.) 2. Connect funding resources of partners to CJCs. (MDA, SWIB, etc.) 3. Coordinate forms, applications, and timelines between funding agency and recipients. 4. Work with MDA and other State agencies in efforts to recruit new industry and expand existing industries. 5. Build and maintain business, industry, economic development contacts, and related partners and create an email distribution list. 6. Ensures monitoring of enrollment, Perkins CTE funds and Office of Civil Rights compliance reviews and reports. 7. Assumes responsibility for Practical Nursing program transition and close-out. 8. Represents Executive Director in meetings with MACJC in her absence. 9. Legislative duties. 10. Assumes active leadership role to secure grant resources, manage those resources and provide reports. 11. Responsible for contracts between MCCB and MDE. 12. Will attend meetings for the departments the incumbent has oversite for. (CIRE, CAO, AE Dir, CTE Directors, MIBEST, Grants, etc.) 13. Ensures close coordination and communication with the Executive Director and the Deputy Executive Director for Finance and Administration. 14. Represents the Agency and the System, as needed, on program and accountability issues in national and state policy discussions; 15. Builds and fosters relationships with the Colleges, State Agencies, and other strategic partners to ensure the development and continuation of strong partnerships, relationships, and connections; 16. Serves as the research liaison on all external data requests submitted to the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC); 17. Oversees execution and implementation of grants awarded to agency; 18. Represents MCCB in professional dress, demeanor and daily discharge of duties; and 19. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Minimum Requirements:

A master’s degree (doctorate preferred) from a regionally accredited college or university and five years related work experience. Demonstrated leadership in the implementation and evaluation of innovative strategies. Excellent decision-making skills, including those involved with conflict resolution, negotiation, and facilitation. Incumbent must be able to work well under pressure, prioritize and plan work activities in order to meet multiple deadlines, manage time effectively and work collaboratively and independently to achieve state goals. Advanced analytical and organizational skills, including a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Effective oral and written communication skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Directly related education and/or directly related experience may be substituted on an equal basis.
