Characteristics of Work: As a part of the eLearning and Instructional Technology Division , the position is charged with innovating and maintaining a system of support and technical assistance in the areas of eLearning. The position will assist with systems and software management and development, work closely with college eLearning personnel, work to integrate and expand the interactivity of all distance education methodologies, and will assist in project implementation. Responsibilities also include planning, directing, assessing, and reporting of activities in a manner that assures quality results. This is a professional, full-time position that will work closely with the Assistant Executive Director for eLearning and Instructional Technology.

Examples of Work:

The following examples are intended only as illustrations of the various tasks performed by the incumbent in this position. These examples are not meant to be exhaustive; they are representative of the general functions of this position.

1. Manages, troubleshoots, and provides technical support for eLearning technologies. 2. Serves as the technology liaison with technology and website vendors. a. Coordinates implementation of new services b. Disseminates information related to current or emerging services c. Oversee technical support and Help Desk Services d. Coordinates and participates in regular vendor meetings e.

Ensures functionality and routine maintenance of all technology overseen by Division

3. Works collaboratively with the MCCB and the 15 community colleges in efforts to provide sufficient technical support for eLearning applications. 4. Maintains a broad understanding of current and emerging instructional technologies in higher education. 5. Organizes and implements technology projects with the eLearning Association. 6. Works collaboratively with the eLearning Association on new and existing projects. 7. Works with the Director of Applications and Data Management to plan, design, build and test quality software. 8. Develops user manuals for eLearning Applications. 9. Works collaboratively with the MSVCC to maintain policy and procedure manuals and technology guides. 10. Collaborates with the Instructional Design and Development Specialist to develop Canvas courses and resources to support the eLearning and Instructional Technology Division and the MSVCC. This includes the MELA Canvas Course, and the MSVCC Community Group. 11. Works collaboratively with the Director of Instructional Design and Development to design and develop course templates for the Division. 12. Serves as primary administrator to the learning management system. 13. Provides assistance to eLearning faculty and staff on all applications purchased and utilized by the eLearning Association, which includes eLearning Applications and MCCB developed applications. 14. Serves on the eLearning Associations’ Support Services Committee. 15. Provide direction and assistance in the development of website(s) and webpages utilized by the MCCB. 16. Coordinate and collaborate with agency divisions to ensure website, social media, and/or digital content is created and maintained. 17. Promotes MCCB and MSVCC programs by attending business and industry recruiting events, community events, career fairs, and visiting high schools and higher education institutions. 18. Represents the agency through oral and written communications and reports. 19. Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Executive Director for eLearning and Instructional Technology. Master’s degree (preferred) from an accredited four year institution in computer science, data processing, business information systems, instructional technology, or a related field. Above high school or equivalent (GED or High School Equivalency Diploma), related education and special experience may be substituted on an equal basis, except there shall be no substitution for the three (3) years’ experience in web based systems and support,  Minimum of three years’ experience in web based systems design, programming and/or systems software and support.  Working knowledge of, MS SQL, HTML, Excel, Curl, LAN/WAN protocols TCP/IP.  Extensive working knowledge of data file formats.  Working knowledge and experience in data migrations and importing / exporting data between multi-vendor software applications  Working knowledge of advanced web technologies and backend databases
