ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ASSESSMENT FOR THE OFFICE OF CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION

Characteristics of Work: The Assistant Director for Assessment is a full-time position within the Office of Curriculum and Instruction (OCI) of the Division of Workforce and Career and Technical Education. The Assistant Director for Assessment will oversee all activities related to national credentials and technical skill assessments associated with the Offices of Career and Technical Education (CTE), Workforce Education, and the Office of Curriculum and Instruction. The position will provide direct leadership to the Assessment Specialist and the Research Analyst. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the community colleges, MCCB staff, and the Director of Curriculum and Instruction to provide comprehensive service and support to the community college CTE divisions in the administration of assessments to include national credentials used for technical skill attainment and reporting. The incumbent must be self-motivated and must exercise sound, independent judgment in a dynamic environment with varying priorities requiring a high degree of teamwork, flexibility, discretion, diplomacy, and tact. The incumbent must possess initiative and demonstrate a high level of teamwork. Work is subject to review by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, to whom the incumbent is responsible. Examples of Work: The following examples are intended only as illustrations of the various tasks performed by the incumbent in this position. These examples are not meant to be exhaustive; they are representative of the general functions of this position. Provide overall vision and leadership as it relates to assessment activities for the Division of Workforce and Career and Technical Education. a. Work closely with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in the development of all assessment and national credential activities. b. Work closely with the Director of Career and Technical Education on technical skill attainment reporting at the state, institution, program, and student level. c. Work closely with the Director of Workforce Education on all activities that relate to assessment and national credential activities. d. Work closely with MCCB staff and the CTE and workforce staff at the fifteen colleges in order to offer assessment and national credential opportunities. 2. Maintain a broad understanding of current and emerging issues in higher education as it relates to workforce and CTE initiatives, teaching and learning, assessment, technical skill attainment, national credentials, and economic development. 3. Provide guidance to MCCB staff and the CTE and workforce staff of the fifteen colleges in the area of assessment and national credentials. 4. Provide ongoing support to faculty and leadership of the fifteen colleges as it relates to requirements and qualifications to offer national credential assessments for various programs of study. 5. Develop and deliver training to college staff on policy and procedure as it relates to assessment and national credentials for technical skill attainment. 6. Work with the MCCB office of finance to negotiate and secure vendor contracts, and maintain a database to ensure adequate assessment volume, usage, and testing monitoring. 7. Ensure efficient testing protocols are developed and followed. 8. Work with college test coordinators to maintain assessment testing integrity, and ensure required tracking and reporting of the data. 9. Direct and manage all activities as related to assessment and national credentials as it relates to the Division of Workforce and Career and Technical Education, including the assessment specialist and the research specialist for the Office of Curriculum and Instruction. 10. Assist in agency enrollment audits and Civil Rights Compliance reviews. 11. Assist in planning and execution of the Workforce and Career-Tech Annual Summer Conference. 12. Track, report, and maintain records of participation, satisfaction, and other measures to ensure continuous improvement of programs and services relating to activities of the Division of Workforce, Career, and Technical Education. 13. Preform other duties as assigned.
