València boasts eight beaches spread along 20 kilometres. Most have been distinguished with the Blue Flag, an international award presented by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), which recognises the environmental quality of the water, the facilities and services offered. Malvarossa Beach and Cabanyal (Las Arenas) Beach are València’s urban beaches par excellence. These wide open beaches, with golden sand, are just a fewminutes from the city centre. They are equipped with a full range of services and are bordered by the Paseo Marítimo , where you can find numerous restaurants to enjoy a fine paella , rice and fish dishes and seasonal seafood tapas.

Just 10 kilometres fromValència you can enjoy unspoilt beaches in the heart of Albufera Natural Park , like El Saler Beach , a long sandy area with natural dunes and abundant vegetation. The beaches of Arbre de Gos , close to the first dunes in the natural park, La Garrofera and La Devesa are other options, only 15minutes from the city and easily reached by the number 25 bus. Pinedo is a traditional fishing district and the perfect choice if you’re travelling with dogs, as the beach there has a dog-friendly section. Finally, Perellonet beach completes the list.

València can boast of numerous green spaces that embellish the urban landscape. The Botanical Garden has more than 4,500 species and an historical legacy of continuous cultivation dating back two hundred years, which also includes monumental trees and architectural heritage. There are also the Monforte Gardens , declared “Artistic Gardens” in 1941, the Viveros or Royal Gardens , the Glorieta and the Alameda . However, the city’s green lung, which crosses the city from east to west, is the Turia Gardens . Situated in the former course of the river, for the past 30 years it has been a recreational area covering over

1 million square metres, perfect for enjoying a quiet stroll, a gentle bike ride or engaging in sporting activities. To the west of Turia Gardens, Cabecera Park is where the former riverbed meets the diverted river and has an extension of more than 150,000 m2. There are three signposted routes and a large artificial lake where you can hire swan-shaped boats and canoes.
