Feb. 20 - Apr. 12 26 Lessons 33days
Content Standards: Standard 5.MD.2 Make a line plot to display a data set of measurements in fractions of a unit (halves, quarters, eighths). Use operations on fractions for this grade to solve problems involving information presented in line plots. For example, given graduated cylinders with different measures of liquid in each, fnd the amount of liquid each cylinder would contain if the total amount in all the cylinders were redistributed equally.
DWSBA Window Mar. 28 - Apr. 18
End of Unit Competency
By the end of Topic 10 students will be able to explain how line plots can be used to represent data and answer questions.
Language Functions & Features Describe data and/or steps to solve problems using: ● Mathematical terms ( data, line plot, analyze, organize ) ● Visuals ( line plots) to support approach, solution and/or extract information. ● Observations ( notice, it appears, looks like, the line plot shows ) and comparative language ( different from, similar to, the same ) to share results ( eg. The line plot shows that the difference between… and…was… ) ● Declarative statements to state conclusion (eg. The value that occurred most often would change because… )
