Wonders Content Integration Unit 2 Wonders TE T4: The text sets are centered around the roots of American democracy, factors that led to the American Revolution, and the writing of the American Constitution. Social Studies Standards: 5.1.2: Identify ideas, innovations, and contributions of Native Americans that have had a lasting impact on human civilization; 5.2.2: Summarize the most signifcant ideas found in the Declaration of Independence; 5.2.3: Explain how the actions of key individuals infuenced the outcome of the American Revolution; 5.2.4: Using evidence from primary and secondary sources, craft an argument that explains how the American colonists prevailed over one of the world’s most powerful empires. Additional Resources Discuss differences about independence by using Loyalists versus Patriots. Students choose a perspective about independence (e.g. loyalust, patriot). Then, write an opinion piece giving reasons, supported by facts and details, for their chosen perspective. Create a T-Chart and record the positive and negative consequences of independence with excerpts found here. Then, write an informational summary from the T-chart.
