CATEGORY C – Design and Structural Integrity Dr Kyle Tousignant ‘Fillet welds around circular hollow sections’

Dr Kyle Tousignant (Canada) earned his Bachelor and PhD degrees from the Department of Civil and Mineral Engineering at the University of Toronto, Canada. His PhD research on weld design for hollow structural section joints has been widely published and has influenced the development of American and Canadian steel design codes (AISC 360 Specification for Steel Structures and CSA S16 Design of Steel Structures). In 2014, he earned the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada Industrial Postgraduate Scholarship, which funded industry experience with Blackwell Structural Engineers, one of the only engineering firms in Canada to work in tensile (fabric) structures.
