STORYWALK Location: Downtown Park Sponsored by: Christiansburg Library and Christiansburg Recreation Department Additional Information: This is a nationally known program that promotes reading and exercise in the outdoors for children. A new book is put in the story boards each month. Come exercise, read and enjoy the fun!

FREESTYLE KARATE CAMP – Instructor: Deirdre McCurdy Eligibility: Ages 6 - 13 Location: Christiansburg Recreation Center – Multi-Purpose Room 1

Additional Information: The Karate Camp is open to returning karate students, those with minimal karate experience, or those entirely new to karate. Each two-hour session, from Monday through Thursday, will consist of instruction in basic freestyle karate with an emphasis on self-defense, fun games that promote physical exercise and karate skills, and teamwork activities that bring students together. On the last day of camp, parents will be invited to view a demo showcasing what their students have learned. For each session, parents/guardians are encouraged to provide their student with a drink and snack, as there will be a snack break in the middle of the class. Students are not required to wear a karate uniform buy may come in a t-shirt, shorts, and footwear suitable for exercise. Minimum: 4 Maximum: 10 Class Reg. Begins Reg. BEGINNING JAZZ – Instructor: Kelly Stalvey Eligibility: Ages 7 - 10 Location: Christiansburg Recreation Center – Multi-Purpose Room 1

Additional Information: Introduction to Jazz Dancing. Dancers build strength, flexibility and musicality while learning basic jazz terminology. Learning fundamental techniques such as isolations, sharp movements and classic steps in coordination with music. Jazz shoes are preferred but ballet shoes and socks work just fine. Please wear athletic wear and no denim. Parents are asked not to stay in class during class time. Minimum: 4 Maximum: 6 Class Reg. Begins Reg.
