Dr. Matthys completed an orthopaedic residency at the University of Southern California and Los Angeles

Medical Center in California. Following this training, Dr. Matthys was awarded 3 prestigious fellowships in joint

replacement and reconstructive surgery at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital. He was

also awarded a fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow Reconstruction at Baylor Medical Center, Dallas Texas and

further fellowship training in Los Angeles California at the Hip and Pelvis Institute.

Dr. Matthys established the Matthys Orthopaedic Center in 2007. He has a special interest in arthroscopy,

reconstructive, and replacement surgery as well as treatment of simple and complex fractures. Dr. Matthys has

published scientific papers, technique articles, and book chapters, and has lectured extensively on orthopaedic

problems ranging from hip and pelvis reconstruction and to the basic science of bone healing.

Dr. Matthys is a native of North Dakota and grew up on a farm near Harwood, ND.
