Registration deadline nears for farmers’ agritourism tour The deadline to register for the Aug. 16 “boots-on-the- ground” farm tour to introduce North Carolina farmers to agritourism is fast approaching.

The Summer NC Agritourism Farm Tour is a perfect fit for farmers considering an expansion into welcoming visitors on their farms, community members in agriculture and local food/farm media representatives. The tour is hosted by the N.C. Agritourism Networking Association .

The tour will travel by bus to four diverse farms and two food leaders in Watauga and Ashe counties at different stages of incorporating agritourism onto their farms. Tickets are expected to sell out before the Aug. 12 deadline. For more information contact Chris Mills at or 919-422-0054.

Register for NC State Fair competitions, Got To Be NC tent Competitions at this year’s N.C. State Fair are accepting registrations , offering opportunities to showcase your farm in livestock and over 20 other categories.

Got To Be NC members interested in booth space in the Got To Be NC tent during this year’s fair should register before the Aug. 24 deadline. Applications after the deadline are subject to a 30 percent increase in booth fee.

Chefs advance to NCRLA Chef Showdown finals Twenty chefs and six mixologists representing N.C. distilleries are advancing to the final round of the 2019 N.C. Restaurant and Lodging Association Chef Showdown on Sept. 30 . Contestants are challenged to use as many local North Carolina ingredients as they can to earn the top titles of NCRLA Chef of the Year, NCRLA Pastry Chef of the Year, and NCRLA Mixologist & Distillery of the Year. The Got To Be NC marketing program is a sponsor. Tickets are on sale now .
